The plant sale has become a popular event in the fundraising calendar of the Dorchester Committee for the Children’s Society.  The sale will take place on Thursday 7th May from 10 am – 2pm.  Once again, the venue will be 8 Grosvenor Road, Dorchester, DT1 2BB, for which we thank Jane and Nigel Culliford for their hospitality.  In preparation for the sale, any plant donations will be gratefully received, either on the day or beforehand and can be delivered to Jane Culliford (Grosvenor Road) or Annette Aldridge (16 Manor Road). Collection can also be arranged by ringing Jane on 01305 269360.  There are generally a wide range of plants available for sale on the day including annuals, perennials and vegetable plants.  We hope to see you there.

On Sunday 17 May at 7.00pm, St Mary’s Church will resound to the glorious music of Handel, Bach and Mendelssohn when The Occasional Singers present a concert of short choral pieces for choir with chamber orchestra.

They will be joined by the outstanding young Soprano Sumei Bao-Smith as they run the gamut of emotions from the joyful, energetic vigour of Handel’s ‘Let God Arise’ to the tender romantic passion of

Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42. The programme includes the famous soprano aria ‘Scherza Infida’ from Handel’s Ariodante.

Entrance is FREE. There will be a retiring collection for Weldmar Hospicecare.

Everyone is most welcome.

Spring is here! Find yourself at St Mary's Church, Dorchester for a programme of flute, piano and organ to conjure the most magical of nature's seasons.  Listen to the evocation of the sound of Vaughan Williams' ascending lark over Grieg's stunning Norwegian mountain morning or the echoes in the Hall of the Mountain King.  Doze beneath Tchaikovsky's Starlit Night and laze with Martinu's Spring in the Garden.  The inimitable Geoffrey Boult will be accompanying the flute works on the Steinway Model C, by generous loan of Dorset Musical Instruments Trust and the organ is the Peter Collins, both of which we are privileged to curate here at St Mary's, Dorchester.
