The House of Phaedra is the new home of Purbeck Candles and you are greeted by them and by Phaedra as you enter the store! It smells amazing. Phaedra makes the candles on site; she believes that as much attention should be paid to aromas in a house as it is to décor. The candles give a wonderful ambiance to this shop.
The House of Phaedra opened in Antelope Walk in November 2024 although Phaedra has been making Purbeck Candles since 2012. Alongside the candles she has assembled a stock of beautiful home items including glass, ceramics, furniture, prints, bags, baskets, dried flowers, rugs and cushions. She sources her beautiful selection worldwide, ranging from Morocco where she has things made by women’s groups, to a local lady who makes mugs for her. Colours are earthy and natural. Items are very desirable and different. I loved the boldly embroidered cushions, and the ‘corset’ glasses which are so tactile.

Phaedra has excellent taste and style and only sells things that she loves. A visit here is pure pleasure, a treat for all the senses.

Where and When

Whichever church you visit, you'll receive a warm welcome. We're delighted to see you and make you feel at home. Most of our services are on a Sunday, but there are quite a few across the week.

Children are always welcome but it's best to check with the individual church to see if there is a specific activity for them
